Finally, we
are free from first period!!!!!
Last Monday was my last chance teaching for
Intermediate I group. Thanks God, it was a really nice class…time was not
enough to reach every single activity I had…but the ones we did were really
nice!!!
This time I started my class in a different way…I
gave them a short reading for them to underline every single past word as well
as ing word too. I have to mention that most of them were in the classroom…I
was very happy for that, but later on I realized that it was because of an exam
they had in the second hour….shame on me…but as you know this group is really a
“gem”….
My principal topic was SIMPLE PAST and the
second one PAST CONTINUOUS, for the grammar explanation I pasted some charts on
the board with some sentence strips as examples, for each explanation I gave
them time to think about their corresponding use and how to apply the tense in
a sentence…later on I pasted some flashcards on the board for them to create
sentences on their own….It was really nice because most of them were eager to
answer and to create some crazy sentences and we all had fun…
As you know the grammar explanation takes a lot
of time….not only for the hard time that it represents, but also for the effort
that the Ss give trying to use the new structure forming sentences… after that
I asked them to work in groups of 3, and I gave them a practice sheet in which
they had to use the two structures explained previously, underline some sentences, use either simple
past of progressive, and finally create some sentences of their own.
Suddenly, time was over and the listening part
was missing…for that I brought a song, but
time was not enough…maybe with another group I will use it!!!

ResponderEliminarI usually don't have enough time to developed all the activities I plan for the class, but little by little I'm learning to measure the time more precisely.
But, at the end of the day, what it matters is that we make sure ss understand the target grammar and learn with the activities, isn't it?

what is up Sarita? hahaha it was funny to figure out why all the students were there hahaha... geting in matter with my comment, I Can tell you that it was a thoughtful class. The class was involved in everything, and that is nice. Remember that the main character of this process (Teaching-learning process) is the students. Time is not something that we can manage totally; sometimes we need more, sometimes we need more activities; however, it's always good to be prepared for everything. Nicely done Sarita! Blessings!
