Second Teaching Practicum....second chance!!!!

Well my dear friends, this time was not so good for me....why? because during the class observation in Teacher Ovidio`s class they were always 16 or 18 students, and in that way I prepared the material and the activities based on that number. However, in my first class, it was 9:20 and only 3 students were in the classroom...so sad... suddenly 2 more and finally 1 extra...
All this means that at the end I had to teach with only 6 students, which was really unconfortable because of the activities, the warm up, etc.

So, the show must go on!!! I started the calss playing the famous "hot potatoe" but with the onion ball version...for that I wrote some verbs in present for them to say the past participle, some questions, some verbs in past, etc. because of the number, every single student had the chance to participate...but as you can imagine it is not the same working with 6 ss than working with 18...

After that, I asked them to work with me in a review of the simple past pattern through the organization of some sentences on the board, some volunteers came to the front and each of them had to arrange the sentence in the correct order. We did the same with the Present Perfect structure and we fixed the mistakes related with the tense of the verbs. As you know, I like working in this way, because you involve the students a lot in the development of the topic, and you make them feel comfortable because anyone will be laughing about their mistakes.

By the end of the class I gave them a mini practice in order to see their development of the topic, it is so predictable that most of Students agree with you during the explanation, but during the practice time you realize that they still have problems with the tense of the verbs, in the organization of the sentence in general, etc.

What I consider really necessary is the extra practice you have by yourself, in order to increase your skill with the different structures, for that reason I gave them a short reading paragraph for them to underline the sentences in present perfect tense or simple past.

I think I did my best. Unfortunately, things didn´t work in the way I wanted....maybe next time!!!!
