Finally, we are free from first period!!!!!

Last Monday was my last chance teaching for Intermediate I group. Thanks God, it was a really nice class…time was not enough to reach every single activity I had…but the ones we did were really nice!!!

This time I started my class in a different way…I gave them a short reading for them to underline every single past word as well as ing word too. I have to mention that most of them were in the classroom…I was very happy for that, but later on I realized that it was because of an exam they had in the second hour….shame on me…but as you know this group is really a “gem”….

My principal topic was SIMPLE PAST and the second one PAST CONTINUOUS, for the grammar explanation I pasted some charts on the board with some sentence strips as examples, for each explanation I gave them time to think about their corresponding use and how to apply the tense in a sentence…later on I pasted some flashcards on the board for them to create sentences on their own….It was really nice because most of them were eager to answer and to create some crazy sentences and we all had fun…

As you know the grammar explanation takes a lot of time….not only for the hard time that it represents, but also for the effort that the Ss give trying to use the new structure forming sentences… after that I asked them to work in groups of 3, and I gave them a practice sheet in which they had to use the two structures explained previously,  underline some sentences, use either simple past of progressive, and finally create some sentences of their own.

Suddenly, time was over and the listening part was missing…for that I brought a song,  but time was not enough…maybe with another group I will use it!!!

Thanks a lot for your help my friends!!!!

Hello my dear bloggers!!!  Here I am with my second class report. Thanks God, this time it was really nice…I didn´t have the complete number of students, but with the ones that were in the classroom were enough to have fun and to develop my topics in a really nice way….well, after my bla, bla, bla… Let me tell you that my topic was QUANTIFIERS, and as warm up I divided the group into 2 teams A and B, then I gave some nouns for each group and their task was to organize either in countable or uncountable side on the board and the team that finished first was the winner. They are really experts working with countable and uncountable nouns, for that reason I didn´t have any problem with the warm up.

As second task I brought a big collage that contains a lot of pictures related with food, cans, bottle, vegetables, milk, oranges, cookies, butter, sugar, juice, etc. and I didn´t mention the use quantifiers when referring to the images, but immediately they started saying : there is a bottle of milk, there are some carrots, there isn´t any turkey, and so on.

In that way they started using the quantifiers without noticing, and the activity helped me to introduce the grammar part which was the explanation of the use of SOME, ANY, HOW MUCH, HOW MANY, A FEW and A LITTLE.

After the grammar part, I gave them 3 short practices in order to see if they really managed the quantifiers. It was really nice to notice that most of them did the activity in a short time. After that, I also brought a listening practice related with a picnic in which a couple of friends were talking about some food to buy, and they applied the quantifiers too.

Finally, I asked them to work in small groups. I gave them a last practice for them to match, complete, write and finally come to the front and share with the rest of the class their own ideas orally.
At the end of the class, I felt really satisfied because I could make them write, speak, read and listen in the same class, and for sure we had fun!!!

Thanks for your comments my dears!!!!
