Hello my
dears!!!! I´m going to share with you my
two last experiences, for my Second and Third class….why? because I used the
same topic to work with the Ss, only the activities were different.
At the
beginning of my second class I started by sharing with them a brief review about the use of some modals. for example :
|
Modal verbs are special verbs which behave very
differently from normal verbs. Here are some important differences:
|
1. Modal verbs do not take "-s" in the third
person.
2. You use "not"
to make modal verbs negative, even in Simple Present and Simple Past
|
3. Many modal verbs cannot be used in the past
tenses or the future tenses.
|
This group was really nice, they understood a lot the use of modals, and for that reason, I used a song to share with them the use of
MODALS, I found a nice song called COULD IT BE YOU?
After that, as you know they had to complete the missing words (modals) and at the end we did what we really enjoy with this activity "SING".
Later on, we did some extra activities related with the topic.
During my third class, I started by using a famous animal to play a new version of hot potato. Do you remember LEO? well, he was helping me to develop the "HOT LION" as you know while the lion is passing by around the circle they are listening to the music too. Once the music stops, the Ss with LEO on his/her hand had to go to the center of the circle, choose a flashcard, and according to the action of the image, he/she had to create a sentence using MODALS!!!! we had a lot of fun, it was really nice!!!
As second activity, I gave them a short reading paragraph to underline the sentences using modals.....
And finally, I used a special activity based on a video
G-FORCE
1. Watch the Trailer to G-Force and answer the following
questions:
a) What has
US Government done for over a hundred
years?
b) Which
animals were trained?
c) What
were they trained to do?
d) What
project has US Government developed?
e) What is
their mission?
2.
There
are 5 members in the G-Force team. Write down the functions of each team member
and their duties within the team. Use the following words to help you with the
duties: crack, distract, supply, watch, search,
lead, fight, report. You can add any other verbs you think appropriate.
